November 16th 2010 we'll present the first Transnational Workshop of CityChlor.
The aim of this European project is to improve the quality and minimise pollution of soil and groundwater by developing an integrated approach to tackle the threats caused by contamination with chlorinated solvents in urban areas. This deals with technological innovation but also risk management approaches, cost-benefit and financing mechanisms, risk communication and community involvement.
We invite you to come to Paris to exchange information and to meet key actors as environmental experts (remediation firms, design office, research agencies, lawyers…), industrial using VOC but also urban developers and institutions.
Nine partners: ADEME - INERIS (Fr), Stuttgart - ITVA (Ge), Agentschap Nl - Utrecht (NL) and Gent - Mortsel - OVAM (B) have listed their knowledge gathered during regional workshops in France, Germany, The Netherlands and Flanders. During this Transnational Workshop we want to share this information and go further into our project.
What can you expect? You will get to know more of CityChlor and on the different approaches of the four countries. Innovative techniques are already tested in some regions and other regions have a lot of information on how to communicate or how to handle the costs of such a remediation. But during our workshop we open our screen further than those 4 regions. Therefore we invited speakers from the European Commission, ChloroNet -a network in Switzerland on Chlorinated Solvents- and from the United States.
We take ‘work’shop literally: we count on your input, your experiences, your speciallity… in order to progress together toward the design of an integrated approach. Therefore in the subscription form you will have to give a little bit of information on your interest in the project and your background. This so you will know who will attend the workshop and with whom you can exchange information.
The final programme will be sent to you by mail and will also be published on our website and our LinkedIn Group. Registration is open now so please fill in the application form by clicking here.
The workshop will start at 9.30 am and will end at about 5.00 pm. The location is situated on walking distance from the Paris Nord TGV station, the address is:
Les Salons du Relais, Hôtel Paris Est
